Wow! This was the best book that I've read in a very long time. The story was amazing. The MC's were so well formed that I wanted to go back to read their stories in a prequel. Daniel and Thomas, what can I say. I'm in love with them both. This book has it all - humor, action, love, anguish.

The first book in The Vanguard Vampires series packs a powerful punch with lead characters Prince Thomas and his consort Daniel. No one is safe from harm in this deadly tale.  Suspense goes hand in hand with romance in Blood Ties. Risking everything for love Blood Ties is a terrific beginning.

There was action, a few steamy scenes, some sweet romance and a bit of a cliffhanger. Blood Ties is a really good start to this paranormal series.

What a great start to a series. I enjoyed how Daniel quickly figured out what Thomas was about, and instead of just walking away fought for what he felt was right and true. As the fighting is a main focal point, I have to say, I did enjoy it, how it’s detailed but not overly gory.

This is one of the best vampire books I have read in a while. It was not your usual coven where there is a "maker" but, an actual family with its quirks and insecurities. All in all, this is the great beginning to a new series that I look forward to read even though it ends in a cliffhanger.

This story is a pretty good vampire story of love and determination. So I found this story to be full of action, love and worry. I am gonna have to recommend this to those who love vampires at war, finding and accepting love in trying conditions, hot sex and sweet love and a great ending.

This first book in a planned trilogy is a somewhat different take on vampire lore than I’ve read before. As much as Thomas tries to fight his attraction, he has met his match in Daniel, who is not afraid of Thomas and challenges him in ways he never expected. I loved how Daniel’s alpha personality kept him pursuing Thomas no matter how much he was pushed away. His ability to see things clearly, from the outside of the conflicts, was a nice counterpoint to Thomas’ emotional reactions. The story had plenty of action and drama, some humor and a few turns I didn’t expect.

The story itself was fairly well paced. Good action scenes mixed in with just enough drama keeps this PNR moving along. The dialog, as does the emotions, runs between fun snappy, angry, to deep sorrow. All of it flows together well and it’s easy to get lost in the story. Perfect reading for anyone who likes M/M vamp stories without all the angsty pain.

It is always a challenge for authors to come up with a new take on vampires, but Lavinia Lewis has managed it. Her world includes born vampires and made vampires, with born vampires having several advantages, such as walking in the sun. I liked that both of the MCs are alphas in their own way, as it made their relationship more electric. The sex between them is hot, especially since Daniel is a big strong guy who stands up to Thomas both in and out of the bedroom.

The development of Thomas & Daniel’s relationship was something to look forward to. The conflicting war between the Drones and Thomas was in every way, vital to the story and I liked how Lavinia Lewis kept up the action until the end. A great read for vampire M/M afficionados!
