Detective William Rainey is the newest man assigned to the KCPD’s Homicide Division, having just relocated from St. Louis with his life partner, Joshua Wolf. When a murder with the same MO as several St. Louis crimes takes place, the similarities are hard to ignore. The investigation turns personal and soon hits close to home. A suspect comes to light and Will finds himself in a battle to solve the most important case of his life. Enlisting the help of Detectives James Dixon and Nick Peyton is tricky when the men don’t feel like they know him yet. Can he earn their trust before it’s too late?

“I’m Detective William Rainey with the Kansas City Police Department’s Homicide Division.” Will cleared his throat, trying not to sound as nervous as he felt. He flashed his badge, fumbling just a little. The whole delivery wasn’t as smooth as he’d hoped for.
The Native American man was a good three inches taller than his own six-foot-two stature. Long black hair fell past wide, muscular shoulders. He glanced at the badge with dark gray eyes before focusing on Will. “What are you doing here, Dick Tracy? No one’s died. Yet.” He examined the fingernails on his right hand and added, “’Course, the night is still young.”
Will squinted. “I can’t be sure, but that sounded like a threat.”
“Cops are paranoid, always looking for trouble where there is none.”
“Now see, I look at it a little differently. I think cops can sense something unfortunate before it’s even happened. My gut tells me you may be bad news.”
“You think so? Well, how about this? Fuck your gut, and fuck you.” He turned and walked away.
Will grabbed the metal handcuffs from his belt before shoving the man up against the wall. He fastened the cuffs on one hand then the other and turned the guy so they were face to face. “That an invitation?”
The handcuffed man batted his thick black lashes a couple of times, eyes shining. “With me tied up? Is that how you like it, Dead-Eye Dick?”
“Maybe.” Will reached for the snap of the man’s jeans and tugged it open. “And just what are you gonna do about it?” He slipped one hand down the front of the man’s tight jeans. “Nothing, that’s what. I could cuff your hands to your ankles and spread those pretty ass cheeks wide. I’ll do you so hard you’ll be begging for mercy. I might stick a gag in your mouth, so you’ll shut the fuck up with the Dick Tracy stuff.”
“For the record, Dick, I don’t beg.”
Will cupped his burgeoning erection and squeezed. “You do get off on the touch of a man, though, don’t you? You’re hard already. Let’s pull these jeans off and see what we’ve got down here.”
The prisoner stared at him menacingly. “You won’t truly understand the meaning of trouble until you’ve messed with me.”
Will stood on his toes and arched his back so they were eye to eye. “I’m shaking in my boots, I’m so scared.” They locked gazes for precious long moments until he finally grinned. “That was a good line.” He mimicked, “‘You won’t truly understand the meaning of trouble until you’ve messed with me’.” Then he cackled. “It sounded like something out of an old Western movie.”
The man shook his head. “So let me get this straight. Are you going to grope and sexually molest every guy you question or just a select few? I think I have the right to ask.”
“Only the ones I live with, unless they do things differently in Kansas City than we did in St. Louis. Then I’ll have to let you know.” He leaned forward and pressed their lips together.
His eager captive sank into the kiss. Mouth open, the man snaked his tongue out and nudged the seam of Will’s lips. When Will parted his lips, the big man took full advantage and kissed him hungrily.

Will brushed his lips across Josh’s. “This is important. Tomorrow is the first day at my new job. I want to look professional, like I know what I’m doing.”
“Of course you do, but you’re stressing too much. You were a cop for five years in St. Louis. It’s not like you’re a total newbie. Now take these cuffs off and I’ll show you what I think is important.”
Will waggled his eyebrows. “Maybe I’ll leave them. How about that?” He reached for the waistband of Josh’s jeans and tugged them down, along with a pair of skimpy black briefs.
