One of the most important things for me is that the characters in a book are dynamic and, in this regard, Scarlet gets an A+. Her characters are definitely engaging. I read the book with a lump in my throat and my heart on my sleeve, trying my best to understand why they acted the way they did. If you're someone who likes over-the-top, rough, hot sex including bondage, submission, multiple partners, and marvelously strong, albeit flawed characters, pick up a copy of 'The Captain's Beloved' because chances are, you will love it.
