  Review by Nautical Star Books

I think Hesitant Heart was a well written historical romance with the BDSM introduced gently and increasing in intensity as the book progressed.  There is wonderful character development and exploration of the actual relationship but a much more minor focus on the sex itself.  It’s there and it is hot but there is more to the book than just sex!

I recommend this to those who love BDMS, a Dom and a submissive finding the perfect fit for them, men who blossom from the love the receive and a very happy ending.

Aaron and Sam really had great chemistry and worked well together. They naturally slipped into the Dom/sub roles effortlessly. There wasn't anything forced about their relationship, everything just fell into place for them like it was meant to be. I can't wait to find out what's next in this new, sexy series!

Hesitant Heart is a perfect choice for a sweet feel to a story with lighter D/s elements, a touch of a historical setting, and heated scenes between two men who find exactly what they need from the other.

These two characters compliment each other well. The dominant Aaron is not so overpowering in the story and Sam's innocence does not detract from his character either. I really enjoyed that Aaron and Sam got to know each other - learned their likes and dislikes. Knight takes the time to develop their relationship.

A definite must read for all those who love BDSM and true romantics at heart.

This book is a super sweet romance with a healthy dose of kink. The series is set around a BDSM club in California in the 1920's, homosexuality is a crime in and of itself, but the kink the men of the club seek raises the danger of discovery to a whole new level.  This story focuses on the quite naïve, 18 year old Sam, who is on his own after fleeing his family home, and the older Aaron, a Dom from the club who rescues Sam from his job in a bathhouse.  Both men have their issues to overcome and Sam has an awful lot to learn, but the comfort they give each other really had me rooting for them.  The romance moves at light speed, but with the setting and Sam’s situation, I found I didn’t mind it at all.  I’m not usually a big fan of historicals, but this is one series I’ve really enjoyed.
