  Review by The Novel Approach

I cared about the characters so much. They drove the story. Seeing Linus begin to blossom while interacting with Thomas felt so good. I cheered for the two of them the entire book. There really is a different type of character for everyone’s tastes, and I’m finding that’s part of what I love about the series so much. Not one character is too much like another, despite there being quite a few so far. Each one has his idiosyncrasies, and his partner complements him to make the book balanced. It takes skill to maintain that level of consistency throughout a series, and so far there’s not a slip in sight.

There was a fair amount of drama that took place in this book, and to me who doesn’t usually enjoy a lot of drama, it actually worked out very well in the long run.  I really enjoyed the strength that Linus discovered he had, and when he realized the friends that he had as well.  It was such an enjoyment following along in the whole process, and being able to “see” when he realized what it was that he wanted.  And how he was willing to take the steps to achieve that. Overall, I did love this book and I really can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

As an author of M/M historical fiction, Morticia Knight is leaps and bounds above the rest. Her deliverance transports the reader to the behind the scenes of a speakeasy, a BDSM club or the stolen moments between homosexual men attempting to forge a place in history.

Compared to the other other books in the series this is very sweet, it shows how difficult it can be to trust and love another person. I think the author did a fantastic job in making this book and the characters come to life. I am fascinated with the BDSM from the 1920’s, it is very primitive to what is used today. Overall a great addition to a fantastic series.

Ms. Knight does such an amazing job keeping us involved in the story of the lives of these charaters—the surroundings and slang words and other props she uses to keep us in the 1920 just flow so perfectly. Thomas has been watching Linus and is kicking himself and we are kicking him as well, that how much emotion is rolling off these pages. When we get these encounters between these two the gentle way Thomas guides Linus, helps heal him, shows him not all Dom’s are bad.  It’s just heart warming.

Perfect Master + needy, bottom boy = perfection. It really does, every time. I love the atmosphere and the feel of these books, this series is a must-read for me.

The romance between Thomas and Linus was sweet.  Thomas was so patient with Linus.  I was just as thrilled as Thomas when Linus realized what it was all about.  It was a rather beautiful moment.  If you are into the sometimes darker side of the BDSM scene, and like a little historical flavor with your stories, I think you will like this series too.  I really think you should to give it try.

This was a satisfying and sensual story for anyone who appreciates the attention to detail that Ms. Knight gave to society expectations and rules of the time period, and the diverse pleasures that came come from a Master/sub relationship.

This was another fast paced story that has a lot of sweetness alongside a good dose of kink. I'm really enjoying this series. I can't pinpoint exactly what it is, but there is something about the combination of mostly naive, young men wanting to be subs, not really sure what they are getting into but willing to try and the experienced men who want to be their masters, ever mindful of the risks under the oppressive anti-homosexuality laws in the 1920s. Things I wouldn't even look twice at today could ruin someone at that time, adding an underlying tension to everything from a comforting touch in public to trying to make a private commitment to the one you love. I'm looking forward to continuing on with these stories.
