Featured Street Team Review:

Tracy G

“I have read a lot of books by Carol Lynne, I am an avid fan of this author. This book is of the greatest books I have read to date.

From the beginning of the book you see how big Brick’s heart is, he collects anyone in need and gives them hope. Lucky is one of them. Horribly abused, cold and hungry he ventures into The Brick Yard at the age of 13. Brick gives him a small job that pays cash and teaches him to fight.

Dray is another one of Brick’s kids, he was a champion fighter until his then boyfriend outed him as gay. Dray runs rather than disappoint Brick or his fans. He didn’t think he could be a fighter and gay.

The two guys are brought back together eight years later as Bricks health is failing. Bricks health gets worse, the cancer has taken hold, he holds on long enough to try and help his boys. The love they have for each other is a hard road to follow. Lucky needs help as his whole world spirals out of control.

I loved this book. Very well written. I have laughed, cried, shouted and wanted to seriously hurt some of the adults in this book. The book has so much content that you wanted to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next.

The author hits a couple of very tough topics in this book that some readers won’t like. “Abuse and Terminal illness”. The level of abuse that has been inflicted on the kids is hard to read but is written in such a way that is a credit to the author and the terminal illness was well thought out and easy to understand and sympathize with those nearest and dearest.

Overall this is one of the best Carol Lynne’s books I have ever read. Well worth buying and reading. I felt as if I was going through everything with these guys.

I will advise you to have a box of tissues handy.”
