  Review by Inked Rainbow Reads

I thought the author did such a awesome job with the time period in this book! She pulled you in from the start of this story and I could not put this book down once I started it.

There was steam in this book and two men who grow closer together in their Dom/Sub relationship. The way that Aaron was so patient with Sam while teaching him everything was just so sweet!
So I will leave this review with….. I loved this book and would recommend it!

This is the first book in the series and my third book from this author.  Once again I give this series 5 stars!  I loved Sam immediately, while he knows to ask for what he needs he doesn’t top from the bottom as obviously as some of the other submissive characters I’ve read in this series.  He is subtle and it’s an endearing character trait.  The same can be said of Aaron.  As a Dominant, he grapples with whether his feelings and preferences are deviant or just a natural part of his personality.  Same helps him come to terms with this and together they both come out stronger than when they are first introduced.  I love this series and the setting, as well as the attention to detail and the overall flow of the series.  Another masterpiece of gay BDSM goodness!

This series is just wonderful, captivating and original with a BSDM theme that will make you want nothing but more! A timeless story set in a timeless age.

This is a beautiful story that had me hooked from the very first page. If you want a hot, passionate tale about two men who find love in the most unlikely place, and fulfill each other's needs, then buy this book as soon as possible.

The book from the very beginning had me fascinated, I couldn't put it down. I love the 1920's style BDSM, the hidden club, the secret lifestyles. I enjoyed the slow build up in this book, no insta love, theres lots of lust and sweet kisses. I can't wait for the next book in this series. Morticia Knight has blown me away.

Ms. Knight wrote of the learning curve for those following the new world of BDSM with historical accuracy and fluidity. Her writing style weaves a web of intrigue and passion that captures the subtle nuances of the written era and the men in her stories.   Hesitant Heart is a must read. Enigmatic characters, sexy boudoir scenes, and the hidden desires of a domestically dominant relationship.

LOVED every word of this book! Really, what else can I put in the review?! I cried, laughed, sighed, and of course grew right along with this couple and the friends. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series, which from my understanding can be read as standalone but I plan to read in order and soon.

The main characters and the secondary characters were realistic and mesmerizing.  I loved how both Sam and Aaron were not perfect but together they were perfect. The dialogue between the characters was honest and unique.  The characters voice matched not only the setting but fit their overall personality.  The ending was a bit predictable but the author takes the reader on a wonderful journey.  I hope we get to see these characters again in the future.

The relationship progresses quickly, but Sam is an eager student with a lot to learn. This book is a sweet romance, but there is also plenty of kink. I'm really enjoying the series and the 1920's setting and look forward to continuing with it.

The Hampton Road Club – fascinating place.  I loved how it was set up to service the needs of its members.  Much like the contemporary clubs, but a bit more on the lawless side.  Deliciously decedent. In spite of the sadomasochism and 24/7 aspects of this story, it was still on the sweet side.  The relationship that develops between Aaron and Sam was so trusting and giving.  It was beautiful!  *sigh*

In conclusion, if you don’t mind a walk on the dark side, this is a beautiful read. The author did an excellent job of portraying characters and situations in a different time period.  It kept me glued to my reader, not wanting miss a detail.
